Client Brief
A rear extension to a large Victorian terraced property in Nunhead, South East London. The client’s brief was to reconfigure the home, creating a large contemporary open plan kitchen and dining area, with a separate larder area and utility room, making it work better for them and their growing family.
We wanted to create a direct visual link from the front entrance hallway, straight through to the rear garden, creating a stronger relationship between the main house and garden, as well as drawing natural light into the heart of the home.
Another key move was to design a kitchen and dining area around a central island, which would be used for socialising and cooking. Large glazed openings, sunken planted beds, and a proposed level threshold, help to bring the garden into the main living spaces.
